IT’S MONDAY! again, and this week the word is WOW! What a fantastic job we Democrats did in Jefferson County and around Pennsylvania. We elected Josh Shapiro as Governor and John Fetterman as Senator. Both are important wins because these two men will work to represent the people of Pennsylvania. I am proud of the Democratic voters in Jefferson County and thank you for your loyalty. We did it! The real bonus here is that Democrats across the state also voted to return control of the legislature to Democrats, an idea that was unthinkable six months ago.
There is still work to do. We, as a party and as individuals, cannot rest and bask in the light of victory. We should call it a start on the road to good governance. There is still a turnout problem, not only here in Jefferson but across the nation as a whole. There were nine million registered voters who did not vote in Texas alone. Slight changes in the margins gave us success in Pennsylvania. Imagine what we could do if those margins were made larger and more permanent.
For now though, good job everyone! Stay active and look to the future.
