ItsMonday

It’s Monday! 2/13/2023

Yes, IT’S MONDAY! again. Going back to 2021, I honestly thought that Trumpism would fade into oblivion, that time would fade Trump into oblivion,or he would get indicted for something, anything. As the test of time has shown, my assessment was wrong. Therefore, I have been living in a state of rational hope, basking in the light of all the positive things accomplished by the Biden Administration, alternating with Republican demands that do nothing more than stick a finger in the eye of middle and working-class America while sucking at the trough of corporate cash.

Then Joe Biden spoke to America in the State of the Union Address! My hope for future sanity is reinforced. In his speech, President Biden touted his administration’s accomplishments and challenged the Republicans on diverse issues such as; immigration, abortion, Social Security and Medicare, and gun safety. He had them jumping up and down in the back of the room heckling, screaming, and howling like a pack of immature baboons. Do I seem harsh in my assessment? Maybe so, but the other side does not blink twice when trashing, demeaning, or accusing us. As far as Social Security, Rick Scott said it was not true he wanted to sunset Social Security and Medicare every five years, and called Joe Biden a liar. The President then went on tour handing out copies of Scott’s plan for America which plainly includes the sunset provision. As Rudy Giuliani stated, “the truth ain’t the truth!” I feel that if Biden and all Democrats keep up the positive attitude and promote it through 2024, we will be successful. There is more work to do.

Part of that work is to nominate and elect four Democratic Judges to the State Courts. We are hosting signing events where we can. Dates and times will be posted in the Calendar below. You may see someone knocking on doors. Listen to the instructions on how to sign as it is important to do it correctly for your signature to count. It is a small but important thing to show your support during petitioning and it is more important to enhance that support by voting in the Primary and General Elections.

Particularly relevant to Jefferson County is that County Commissioner Jeff Pisarcik (D), and Auditor Jean Shaw (D) are up for reelection. Your support for these candidates is appreciated.
