It’s Monday and I hope everyone had a fantastic Easter, Passover, or Ramadan celebration. Coincidentally, they all fell at the same time this year. We were all able to worship at the church, synagogue, or mosque of our choice or maybe not celebrate in a religious manner at all if that were your preference. Isn’t it wonderful that we live in a country where you have a choice as to how you worship, what kind of health care you can access, what books you can read or offer to your children, or even what history we can offer in schools? Oh right, I forgot, the Republican Party is attempting to eliminate choice from your vocabulary. Yes, we will do what they want, no exceptions, or else. A rational Conservative party that wants to solve problems is welcomed. A crazy Fascist party that centers on retribution and revenge and wastes its energy on finding solutions to problems that do not exist, is not welcome.
Trump was indicted in Manhattan on some 30+ felonies surrounding the falsification of records and campaign finance. Some say this is a weak case, but I think not! Prosecutor Bragg is an intelligent well-educated DA who has carefully developed this case and waited to bring it when all the ducks lined up. I would prefer to say that this is a start, with many more to come.
The legislature in the State of Tennessee, which has been gerrymandered to a supermajority, has out front and in public revealed its racism by expelling two black legislators while retaining the one white legislator. The three members were accused of exactly the same violation of house rules, which amounted to merely speaking without being recognized.
Our new and updated website has gone live. I need to thank Tammy C. and John A. for all the hard work and back and forth they have done in the past two weeks to accomplish this. We will attempt to keep it current and provide links to stories, training, events, etc. Check it out, https://jeffdemspa.org.
