ItsMonday

It’s Monday! 6/10/2024

Last week I read a story that disturbed me.  Just a little 1000 to 1500 word news post about a couple of Capitol Police officers, one of whom was Harry Dunn.  I’m sure you have heard of him, he is one of many officers that attempted to defend the Capitol building on Jan. 6th, 2020.  They were invited to come and speak to the Pennsylvania State Legislature about their experiences on that day.  When these men entered The Chamber, they were met with jeers and boos from Republican Lawmakers.  Several members, about ten, got up and left, and several more turned their backs on them.  I find these actions by Republican Legislators to be disgraceful and disgusting.  This is supposed to be the party of law and order, the Back the Blue Republicans.

That kind of behavior is exactly 180 degrees from what you would expect from true believers in law and order.  What is happening in this great land of ours if we do not even have the decency to listen to police officers describe their experiences.  Common sense and good manners should dictate that we at least listen to these men.  Denying the veracity of their experiences or pretending that what happened on Jan. 6th was something other than what it was, is insane.

The Republican soul currently consumed with retribution and revenge because Donald Trump was found guilty last week.  They are threatening to prosecute and jail all Democrats whose names they can remember.  They are attacking the process and not the substance, and their arguments are flawed.  The Judge was fair and gave Trump ample leeway.  The Jury was picked with input from Trump’s legal team, and that same team presented no defense!  Let’s face it, if your motivation is to get even and not to get better, then maybe you are on the wrong track.
