The Jefferson County Democratic Committee (JeffDems) is pleased to announce the opening of our office / headquarters, located at 202 W. Mahoning St., Punxsutawney (the former “Subway” location), across from Rite Aid. The office officially opened to visitors on August 6th, and an Open House is scheduled for Friday, August 9th, from 3pm – 7pm. All are welcome to stop in to see our new “digs,” meet some like-minded Dems, pick-up some literature or yard signs, and perhaps consider ways to get involved in promoting Democratic values and candidates in the upcoming November General Election.
We think the office looks GREAT and will serve multiple purposes in the weeks ahead.
For starters, we can meet & greet voters, register NEW voters, and provide information on Democratic values and candidates. Yard signs are available, and certain merchandise, such as political buttons, mugs, and JeffDem t-shirts. We are able to conduct meetings, address envelopes or postcard mailings, participate in trainings offered via Zoom, have social gatherings and discussions, and much more. Most importantly, it gives us A PRESENCE in Jefferson County – a safe place that local Dems can call “home” and be a part of in the months ahead.
Much preparation and renovation work led up to the early August opening, followed by placement of furnishings, tables, chairs, wall decorations, etc. The office consists of a main meeting/greeting room, including a TV, and several seating areas. In back, there is a multi-purpose “extra” room, for storage, kitchenette, computer & printer, etc. A large bathroom is ADA-compliant. Metered parking is available street-side, and there are small lots within a one block area.
Initial office hours are Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (3pm – 7pm), and Saturday (12pm – 4pm). We anticipate expanding hours as we get closer to the election.
While located in Punxsutawney, it’s important to note that Dems from all over the County – Brookville, Brockway, Falls Creek, Reynoldsville, Sykesville, Big Run, etc. – are welcome! We hope you will stop in soon and we think you will be proud to know that we now have an attractive new home!
As we are not funded by the State Party, donations are welcome and accepted, which ultimate help to pay the rent and related expenses.
