John Adduci

Jefferson County Commissioner Candidate
John Adduci running for Jefferson County Commissioner 2023

PUNXSUTAWNEY:  John Adduci of E. Union St., Punxsutawney, is seeking election as a Jefferson County Commissioner. His name will appear on the 2023 Democratic Primary Ballot. John, and his wife Beth, have resided and worked in Punxsutawney since 2005, and previous to that, resided and worked in Coudersport, Potter County, from 1988 – 2004. Thus, John has enjoyed living, working, and raising a family in rural PA for the past 35 years.

John has extensive experience in Sales, Marketing, and Business Operations. His career spans 50+ years. He entered the expanding telecommunications industry in the mid-70s, working to grow the business through utilizing his skill sets in marketing and communications. He started a “second” career, in 2005, with a Marketing Agency based in Punxsutawney and Pittsburgh. His Agency work included developing marketing plans and materials for numerous small and mid-sized companies, mostly in western and central PA. As such, he interacted with business owners and managers across a wide range of industries, such as healthcare and manufacturing, and thus learned much about the business environment and challenges of rural PA. John is an excellent writer, editor, proofreader, and collaborator, with good problem-solving skills, a creative thinker, with a strong work ethic, and has a reputation for getting things done.

John is presently retired. Throughout his lifetime, he has been heavily involved in the communities where he has lived. This spirit of volunteerism has allowed Adduci to apply his skills and energy into helping needy organizations achieve their objectives. While residing in Potter County, John was a member of Rotary International, serving as Secretary and later, President of the local Coudersport Chapter. He led fundraising efforts that resulted in numerous improvements to the community’s recreation facilities, such as ballfields, dugouts, playgrounds, and much more. He received a prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship from Rotary in 1998. He also umpired youth baseball games. At St. Eulalia’s Catholic Church, he achieved the level of 3rd degree Knight of Columbus.

In Punxsutawney, John has served on the Advisory Board of Salvation Army and the local Big Brothers Big Sisters Chapter (since disbanded) and, along with his wife, was a “Big” for several years. He coached baseball for the Rossiter Miners for 5 years, then turned to umpiring with the Punxsutawney Groundhog Little League. John is on the Little League Board and Chairs several committees, including Chief Umpire for the past 10 years, Secretary for the past 5+ years, Chair of the By-Laws & Audit Committee, and Chair of the Sponsorships Committee. John also umpires American Legion Baseball and Big Run Baseball.

When COVID caused a slow-down of Agency work in 2020, John used that time and his long-standing interest in politics, to work with the Jefferson County Democratic Committee. Over the past 3 years, he has volunteered extensively, at the temporary JeffDems HQ in 2020, working as a Precinct Chair and Poll Observer for Punxsy Ward 2, started an ad hoc Marketing Committee, was appointed Secretary when that position became open in 2021, and in 2023 was elected a State Committee Person, representing JeffDems at State Committee meetings and more, helping to formulate and implement strategies to get good candidates elected. At a regional level, John is a member of the NW PA Caucus, the Rural Caucus, Friends of PA 15, and the Demstock 23 Committee.

John is committed to finding ways to work with all political parties to do what’s best for the people of Jefferson County. He is a good listener and always tries to build consensus. Adduci believes that his extensive track record in business and volunteerism makes him well-qualified for the position of County Commissioner and would thus appreciate your vote in the upcoming Primary.
