Dear Editor:
The Biden Administration has done many good things for the people of America over the past 18 months (try to remember the state the country was in when President Biden was inaugurated) so let’s toot the Democratic horn a little and celebrate. Let’s take a minute to review some of the accomplishments of the Biden Presidency, all of which were done with minimal or zero Republican votes.
He signed the Inflation Reduction Act. Medicare can now negotiate drug prices. Out-of-pocket drug costs are now capped at $2,000 per year and insulin costs are capped at $35 per month. Thirteen million Americans covered under the Affordable Care Act will see premium reductions of up to $800/month. There is aggressive action on Climate.
He signed the Veterans’ Health Care Act to address health problems created by exposure to burn pits and toxins.
He signed the CHIPS and Science Act, providing a path to create good-paying manufacturing jobs in an industry that is essential to the security of the nation.
He signed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the most significant gun regulation legislation in 30 years.
He restored American Leadership on the World Stage.
He officially ended America’s Longest War (20 years in Afghanistan).
He broke through two years of Republican obstruction and signed legislation to reauthorize and strengthen The Violence Against Women Act.
He signed the American Rescue Plan that providedCOVID-19 vaccine that has immunized about 230 million Americans. He provided economic relief to working-class Americans.
He signed the Infrastructure Bill for numerous projects that will have a long-term effect.
Under Biden’s Administration, 6.5 million jobs were added to the economy in 2021 and the unemployment rate dropped to under 4%.
Remember these accomplishments when you vote by-mail or in-person onNovember 8th.
