IT’S MONDAY! again and I notice that our own GT Thompson was bragging about speaking against the new Biden EPA rule defining Waters of the United States. His rationale was that it’s time someone stood up for property rights. It’s the age-old Republican defense of property rights over human rights. The rule is an attempt to define what waters and wetlands are subject to regulation by the Clean Water Act, the EPA, the Army Corps of Engineers, and others. The 2015 Obama Rule greatly expanded the regulatory reach of the Federal Government. Trump-era officials instituted a new rule rolling back parameters and vesting some regulatory authority back to the states. True to his stripes, the Biden Rule tries to find consensus in the middle. All I know is that wetlands are an important part of the water cycle providing clean water to the nation. They slow erosion and provide habitat for countless species. I believe they should remain undrained and unpolluted.
Is Donald Trump going to be indicted? I think so, but nothing would surprise me at this point. New York has not indicated so, but Alvin Bragg and his staff are receiving death threats and direct threats of violence by none other than Trump himself. Prosecutor Smith is about ready to uncover some information in the documents case that will be hard to refute and very bad for Trump. The same goes for the Jan 6th case. Stay tuned!
These are complicated issues intertwined with politics. It’s a sad state of affairs for a party that claims to back the blue and is all in for law and order. If you are innocent, you let the process play out, you do not try to destroy it. If we do not address this issue, we are giving carte blanche to any future executive to do anything they want. The removal of restraints is scary.
Mail ballots should be coming out soon. Our most important races are Jeff Pisarcik and John Adduci for Commissioner. We are supporting Debbie Kunselman for Supreme Court, Jill Beck and Tamika Lane for Superior Court, and Bryan Neft for Commonwealth Court. Any Democrat on the ballot for Council, School Board, or Supervisor deserves your vote also.
